Last night Tom and I were talking about all of the things we want to do in 2010 -I love the beginning of a new year so filled with hope and possibility. We have so much planned- books will be finished, a marathon completed, vacations taken. I was fantasizing out loud about how awesome I'll be looking this time next year - complete with my dream outfit. I imagine Tom and I grabbing dinner, and I will be wearing some skinny jeans, a sweater that I made myself, and a really kick-ass belt buckle. Since I've put on the weight I've felt really self conscious, so I would never bring attention to my mid section with something silver and shiny. I showed Tom two of the buckles I had been admiring (

Tom took one look at those belt buckles and turns to me and says, "I have a belt buckle like that."
Me, "you do?"
Tom, "yeah, I got it when I was a kid and we went to the Grand Canyon."
Me, "Can I see it?"
Then he whips this out:

It seems my man has been holding out on me. I'm not quite sure why my mother-in-law would buy her son a giant flower encrusted belt buckle, but I am thankful. Just goes to show you, no matter how long you've been married, your man can still suprise you. I'm hanging this up in front of the treadmill so I can see it every morning while I train- the proverbial carrot. Now, if only I could find some boots.
